Day 1 - 22 Mar - Sin-Tokyo-Nikko
It was very early in the morning - 4:30am at Changi Airport(Yawn...) We had our perk up of the day - Kiliney Kopi Tiam's Teh C and toast! Great way to start our trip... :)

8 hours later, we arrived in Narita Airport in Tokyo. Here we are, just after buying the Suica card, a stored value card for travelling on subway in Tokyo.

Enroute to Nikko. The plan was to drop in aiport, and then switch straight away to Nikko for the night's stay. Zhen was tired after the flight, boy, was he sleeping like a baby in the 2-hour train ride to Nikko.

Finally, we arrived at the Nikko Ryokan. This is a picture of our room (4 pax to a room), and Pei doing the 'Egyptian-like dance'... :p Nikko, also known as 日光市, is north of Tokyo and is on elevation of 200m to 2000m above sea level.

Day 2 - 23 Mar - Nikko Edo-Wonderland
Last night, we had some problem with the heater initially, but once it started to work, the interior became warmer and less dry. Condensation began to form on the INNER glass surface.. The temperature outside was about 0 to 3 degrees this morning.

Breakfast area of the Annex Turtle Hotori-an place where we stayed. The breakfast consists of grapefruit, toast, coffee and hard-boiled egg. After the first day breakfast, we decided not to subscribe to the second day's. Firstly it is more expensive and secondly not our type of food.. haha...

To get to Edo Wonderland, we need to go to Tobu Railway Kinugawa-Onsen Station. It is only a couple of stops from Tubo-Nikko Station but we needed to switch train at Shimmo-Imaichi. View from the Shimmo-Imaicho Station.

I was hungry and this guy was carry a lot of bento set walking around. The bento was very nicely packaged and I bought 1 for 1000 yen (S$13). It was very nicely packed and there were 9 compartments inside, each containing small colorful pieces of food. Now, where is my chopstick?....

Edo Wonderland is a culture theme park that recreated the ancient town and buildings of Edo period(1603-1868). As it is in Edo era, there are arcades, pavilions, restaurants area and theaters. Also present are Samurais, Ninjas, beautiful Japanese clad girls and pretty town girls walikng in the town.

This is a replica of the typical water-wheel mill used for pounding grains. The water-wheel turns and activates a shaft which then lift vertical wooden poles to pound the grains in the hole on the ground.

Here, you can dress up like the Edo era people. For S$130, you can dress up like a Geisha with complete make-up. For S$65, you get to dress up like a servant/commoner...

This guy plays with his wooden apparatus, which can be made into a fan, a circle, a flat piece of wooden and even a wing-like thingy. Very versatile and skillful use of the gadget. Here, everyone is entertained by his cheerful and lively performance.

Performance area where we will watch some actions later. The two "mini-tambolines" are for the performers to jump on. Later, the guy will jump from the tower, onto the stage, onto the two tambolines, somersaulting...

This guy came early to do crowd control and ensure the folks don't go too near the stage. The space is required for the performance to take place safely without any spectator getting hurt.

The show starts... This is a outdoor live performance of fighting scene. This is the entourage which later became "attacked" by a rogue group of warriors... The person in green is supposed the most skillful of them all... :)

Haha... This photo suppose to show their slow dancing and walk in the procession, but instead captured them doing the jiang si/vampire stance in the midst of the dance.. haha. But the dance moves were graceful and nicely done.

This is the Ninja Theatre show, which tells the story of really existed Ninjas who fought in the battle between the feudal lords, Hojo and Takeda, in the Age of Civil Wars, in 1581.

The action packed theatre feature special fighting scenes which were pretty entertainment. There is a comical guy in brown who performed well, IMHO.

Outdoor, we saw a Shuriken throwing place, where people pay to get shurikens and try their hands like throwing them. Here, there are 4 shurikens which landed on the wooden target... Not easy. Even the staff did not alway hit the wood - of course lah cos they not ninja mah! haha....

This is an interesting "Weird Ninja house" where perspective in the house is distorted, and the house is on a slope. When we went in, our sense of balance was confused and could not even stand let alone walk properly in the house.. It was very fun but a very giddy experience.
